WHO AM I?

The Mercury Woodworker
Hi, I'm Denis, the Mercury Woodworker. After more than 24 years of service in the Royal Canadian Air Force, specializing in Communications and Electronics (with a degree in astrophysics just for fun), I’ve embarked on a new challenge: merging my passions for woodworking, puzzles, and electronics into intricate, handcrafted creations. My work is a tribute to the spirit of ingenuity, blending craftsmanship with the thrill of discovery.
How Did It All Start?
My journey into puzzle crafting has been shaped by the brilliance of both traditional and modern puzzle makers, pushing me to carve out my own space in this fascinating community.
But beyond the workshop, my most important team is my family—my supportive spouse and our two lively kids, a delightful 5-year-old girl, Maïa, and an energetic 3-year-old boy, Max. Their endless curiosity fuels my creativity, and their, let’s say, thorough approach to durability testing keeps me on my toes.
Together, we form a close-knit unit, shaping the story behind Mercury Woodworks with love, inspiration, and a touch of controlled chaos. This is merely a prologue; the best chapters are yet to come.
What's Next?
As I transition out of the Canadian Armed Forces, I’m diving deeper into puzzle design, crafting original works that challenge and intrigue. I’m also open to custom commissions—if you have a concept in mind, I’d love to bring it to life. Additionally, I’m always interested in collaborations with other designers to push the boundaries of what’s possible in puzzle craftsmanship.
